Department

Channel Operations is a facilitating department and is responsible for the planning and transmission of all of MTV Networks North's channels. The daily duties vary from maintaining programming grids, compiling day to day continuity schedules, maintaining promo strategies, managing on screen graphics, to quality checking all transmissions and reporting.
With all these processes, the aim is to create an end result that looks as attractive as possible to the public. Next to these daily tasks, Channel Operations plays a critical role in all broadcast related projects like channel launches, migrations or graphics redesigns.                          

Description of position (core tasks/responsibilities)
  • Sets up monthly programming grids and calculates timing, all episode runs and continuity, in liaison with the brand teams and Brand Strategy & Services.
  • Implementing the break structure and length on instructions from the brand.
  • Responsible for complete schedule delivery including all episodes and breaks to appropriate parties.
  • Developing and maintaining the promo- and continuity campaigns in liaison with marketing managers and Promo & Design.
  • Works closely with Channel Operations Manager developing and ensuring a smooth transition between the long term to the short term schedule.
  • Leads, or takes part in, projects ranging from channel launches, repositioning, graphics redesigns etc. etc.
  • Ensures the transmission schedules comply with any technical requirements or guidelines set by regulatory bodies.
  • Demanding of Channel Operations Manager that long term planning of programs and promo campaigns are executed
  • Develops a functional rights and license management as well as run’s count in MediaGenix
  • Is responsible for recruiting, training and coaching staff, as well as facilitating the department.
  • Strives for an optimal cooperation from the programming plan to the schedulers, Media Operations and transmission, ensuring a secure transmission chain.
  • Is the key contact for a selection of brands regarding all programming and promotional campaign related issues.
  • Checks all systems for data consistency to ensure logging and reporting quality.
  • Continuously reviews and amends processes to improve workflows and the end product.
